The Peoples’ Summit Towards COP30 is an autonomous and popular initiative organized during the official negotiations of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30). Our goal is to strengthen grassroots mobilization and unify the agendas of social, environmental, anti-patriarchal, anti-capitalist, anti-colonial, anti-racist, and human rights movements. We aim to do so while respecting the diversity and specificity of each movement, united by a shared vision of collective well-being.

As part of building this process, we are exploring ways to ensure fair and equitable access to information through interpretation during the Summit. This means making space for as many languages as possible—not just colonial ones—and strengthening our network of activist interpreters who are committed to language justice.

Logistical and operational details are still being finalized. We are working to build a network of interpreters who can support the event both in person and remotely. For budget, logistic, and environmental issues, in-person interpretation will prioritize local and regional interpreters, but these criteria are not exclusive.

Please note that, at this stage, we cannot guarantee any form of payment or cover expenses related to your stay in Belém. However, we’re studying ways to provide food and accommodation, airport transfers, and travel insurance. We rely on your solidarity and willingness to contribute!

The Peoples’ Summit process is being built by over 700 organizations worldwide. This open call for volunteer interpreters is supported by La Via Campesina, the World March of Women, the Asamblea Internacional de los Pueblos, the Global Forest Coalition, COIAB (Brazil), and Common Languages.
